About CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction thatuses controlled cooling technology to target and eliminate stubborn fat cells. This process is also called “cryolipolysis.” (1) It works by freezing fat cells, causing them to die, where the body will then naturally clear them away via the lymphatic system. CoolSculpting is also FDA-approved and effective at reducing excess fat in areas such as the abdomen, thighs, flanks, and double chin areas just after one treatment. This procedure utilizes fat caliper measurements, ultrasound assessments, and 3D imaging to reduce the number of adipocytes in the treatment area. While its main goal is to reduce localized fat cells, it also holds the potential to tighten the skin. This makes it a comprehensive, minimally invasive solution for body contouring that avoids incisions, anesthesia, and extensive recoveries. (2)
Benefits
CoolSculpting offers an effective way to reduce stubborn fat. Freezing fat cells will destroy them, prompting the body to naturally clear the cells away. This avoids the need for liposuction and other surgical techniques. CoolSculpting is also entirely customizable, does not damage surrounding tissues, and requires minimal downtime. If you are seeking a non-surgical way to enhance your physique, then CoolSculpting may be right for you!
Candidates
If you are currently struggling with stubborn fat pockets that are resistant to diet and exercise, if you are 10 to 30 pounds over your ideal body weight (typically with a BMI under 30), and if you have a consistent exercise routine and consume a well-balanced and healthy diet, then you may benefit greatly from CoolSculpting. To qualify for treatment, you must also be in good general health and hold realistic expectations for achievable outcomes. Certain patients may see better results through more advanced techniques, such as liposuction. Dr. Harirchian, Dr. Rednam, or another myEvergreen specialist will determine your candidacy during your consultation.

Preparation
Effectively preparing for your CoolSculpting procedure helps to optimize your outcomes and make the treatment as smooth as possible. We recommend that you follow these general guidelines:
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements
- Cease smoking and nicotine consumption
- Postpone aggressive skin treatments
- Avoid sunbathing and tanning treatments
- Arrive to your appointment free of skincare products and makeup
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine consumption for at least a couple of days prior to your treatment
- Wear loose-fitting clothing to your appointment
Procedure

At the beginning of your CoolSculpting procedure, you will lie down comfortably on your treatment bed, and you will receive a gel pad to act as a protective barrier against the cooling panels. Next, Dr. Harirchian, Dr. Rednam, or a myEvergreen team member will utilize the handheld applicator over the gel pad. This device will use suction to pull pinchable fat between the cooling panels. These panels will then activate, freezing the fat cells. This process will repeat until evenly addressing all target areas. On average, treatment lasts about an hour. Patients report the process as extremely tolerable, with many feeling comfortable enough to read or nap during the session. After addressing the target areas, your CoolSculpting specialist will remove the device and massage the treated areas. This step breaks up the frozen fat cells and helps to enhance the overall fat reduction.
Once you leave your CoolSculpting treatment, its effects will continue. As the fat cells die, your body will begin to naturally clear them away through the lymphatic system. After their evacuation, the treated areas will be more toned and slim.
Recovery
Immediately after your session, your skin may appear red and slightly raised. This effect is normal and will subside after a couple hours. Since there is no downtime, you may return to your normal daily activities that same day. Throughout your recovery, we encourage staying hydrated and engaging in gentle movements to help the lymphatic system clear the dead fat cells.
Results
The results from your CoolSculpting treatment will develop over the span of four to six months after a couple of sessions. Essentially, your body’s lymphatic system will naturally filter out the dead, crystalized fat cells as waste, delivering improved and toned body contours.
