About XERF Skin Tightening
XERF is the world’s first non-invasive multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency (RF) aesthetic treatment. (1) This innovative system is designed for structural skin tightening, utilizing dual-frequency energy to address skin concerns across multiple depths. Unlike traditional RF devices that target a single layer, XERF delivers energy that penetrates from the superficial epidermis through the dermis and down to the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS).
The SMAS is the same fibrous network of tissue that plastic surgeons manipulate during a surgical facelift to provide structural support to the face. By reaching this critical layer, XERF facilitates a lifting and tightening effect that was previously difficult to achieve without surgical intervention. This South Korean innovation leverages advanced Wave Fit™ technology to ensure the energy is delivered precisely, maximizing efficiency and a high level of safety.
Multi-Layered Collagen Remodeling
The 6.78 MHz frequency targets the more superficial layers of the skin to improve texture and diminish the appearance of fine lines, while the 2 MHz frequency penetrates deeper into the subcutaneous layers and the SMAS. This multi-layer heating stimulates the body’s natural wound-healing response and triggers immediate collagen generation, leading to the long-term production of new, high-quality collagen and elastin fibers.
Benefits
XERF provides a range of benefits for patients seeking rejuvenation, including:
- Neocollagenesis: By delivering controlled thermal energy into the deep layers of the skin, XERF triggers the body’s natural healing response, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin fibers. (2) This leads to long-term improvements in skin health, elasticity, and firmness.
- Non-Invasive Tightening: Patients can achieve significant skin contraction and wrinkle reduction without the need for needles, incisions, or general anesthesia.
- Structural Rejuvenation: The ability to treat deep into the SMAS layer ensures that rejuvenation occurs from the inside out, providing a more enduring and visible lift. (3)
- Safe for All Skin Types: Our professionals can use XERF technology safely and effectively on all skin tones, including patients with sensitive skin or concerns like melasma.
- Personalized Treatment: The XERF system automatically adjusts energy levels depending on the unique resistance of the patient’s skin, providing a truly customized experience.
Candidates
Potential candidates for XERF treatment are overall healthy individuals experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity, particularly those who wish to avoid the risks and downtime associated with surgical procedures. XERF is an excellent option for people noticing early jowling, sagging in the neck and under-chin area, or fine lines around the eyes. Candidates should have realistic expectations; while XERF can provide significant structural tightening, it is not a replacement for a surgical facelift. Younger patients may also be interested in XERF as a preventative treatment to maintain collagen levels and slow the onset of visible aging.
Personal Consultation
During this collaborative meeting, our specialists will review your medical history, discuss your specific aesthetic concerns, and perform a physical examination to assess the quality and health of your skin. This thorough process allows us to determine if XERF is the most suitable treatment for your goals or if an alternate or combination of treatments would be more effective. We take the time to explain the technology, discuss potential outcomes, and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Preparation
To ensure the best results and minimize skin sensitivity, our specialists will provide you with detailed preparation instructions which include:
- Discontinue the use of retinols, retinoids, or other harsh exfoliating agents for several days prior to treatment.
- Avoid tanning and unprotected or excessive sun exposure.
- Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Arrive for your treatment appointment with clean skin.
Procedure
The XERF procedure typically lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. The treatment is designed to be comfortable, often described as feeling like a hot stone massage. This is made possible by Advanced Integrated Cryogen Delivery cooling technology, which maintains the skin’s surface temperature while the RF energy works deep below. The system uses Wave Fit™ pulse technology to control energy delivery and Never-Numb™ design, which eliminates the need for topical anesthesia for most patients. Your specialist will pass the handpiece over the targeted areas, and the system’s real-time cybernetic feedback will continuously optimize the settings for safety and efficacy.
Recovery
Unlike other procedures, XERF requires zero downtime, allowing you to return immediately to your daily routine directly after treatment. Some patients may experience mild redness or a feeling of warmth in the treated area, which typically subsides within a few hours. A feeling of tightness is also common, signaling that the structural contraction process has begun. Aftercare is very straightforward: avoid harsh chemicals and maintain diligent sun protection as your skin begins its rejuvenation process.
Results
While some immediate tightening may be visible due to the contraction of existing collagen fibers, the most significant results develop over time as the body produces new collagen. Full improvements typically peak between 12 and 18 months after treatment. For optimal structural tightening, we generally recommend two treatment sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Maintaining a consistent skincare regimen and wearing effective sun protection will help preserve your smoother, tighter, more radiant skin.
Corresponding Procedures
XERF is highly effective as a standalone treatment, but it also serves as a foundational component of a comprehensive rejuvenation plan. During your consultation, we can discuss how different corresponding procedures can be strategically combined to achieve your desired aesthetic results without surgery.
Microneedling
When XERF is combined with microneedling, patients receive a dual-action approach to skin rejuvenation. While XERF targets the deeper structural layers to tighten and lift, microneedling creates controlled micro-wounds in the surface layers. This combination promotes intense collagen production, significantly improving skin texture, reducing the appearance of pores, and diminishing fine lines and acne scarring for a comprehensive, resurfaced glow.
Dermal Fillers
While XERF provides structural lifting by tightening the SMAS layer, dermal fillers replace lost volume in the cheeks, temples, and jawline. Together, these treatments provide both the structural support and the necessary volume to restore a youthful, contoured, and naturally refreshed appearance.
Cost of XERF in Houston and The Woodlands, Texas
The cost of XERF treatment varies based on the specific areas being treated, the degree of skin laxity, and whether the sessions are part of a larger customized package. Because every patient’s skin profile is unique, we provide comprehensive cost estimates during your personal consultation.

FAQ
What makes XERF different from other laser treatments?
XERF is the world’s first multifrequency monopolar RF system, meaning it can deliver two different frequencies simultaneously to treat multiple layers of the skin, including the SMAS layer, which traditional RF devices often cannot reach effectively.
Is XERF safe for sensitive skin?
Yes, XERF is designed to be safe for all skin types and tones. Its self-adapting Accurate Impedance Feedback technology and integrated cooling system ensure that the treatment remains gentle enough even for patients with sensitive skin or melasma.
Is XERF treatment painful?
Most patients describe the sensation as a warm, comfortable feeling similar to a hot stone massage. The integrated cooling technology and Wave Fit™ pulses are specifically designed to maintain comfort without the need for topical numbing.
How do I know if I am a good candidate for XERF?
If you have mild to moderate loose skin on your face or neck and prefer a non-invasive option to surgery, you are likely an ideal candidate. A personal consultation at myEvergreen Medspa is the best way to confirm candidacy through a physical skin assessment.
How many XERF sessions will I need?
While every patient is different, we typically recommend a series of two treatments spaced four to six weeks apart to achieve optimal structural tightening and collagen stimulation.
